Tag Galaxy...so COOL!

This is a cool application that uses words to generate a globe of images from Flickr. Each image will pop out and provide a bit of information. Check it out and see if you can think of a way to use it in your classes. Let me know if you do!

Website Evaluation

Kathy Schrock came up with this Critical Evaluation of a Web Site form for middle school students to think critically when finding information on the web. We'll use these in my computer classes, but please feel free to make use of it during your classroom research. Kathy gives permission to reproduce for classroom use. Her website has other grade level forms available: http://kathyschrock.net

How to Create a Google Calendar with Appointment Slots

I found an editor that allows me to take out mistakes easily and erase annoying background noises. I'll figure it out and try to do that on future videos. This is better than nothing, I suppose. Let me know if you have questions; I'm happy to help you.

Word Clouds

are a fun way to engage students. They can use them for all kinds of things.
www.wordle.net is a great one, but you can't save them. You can print them, though.

This one is from www.tagxedo.com
This one has a shape feature that allows you to manipulate the words into a shape that reflects your subject matter. For this one, I simply put the url for my techspot blog into the word load; it grabbed every word from my blog. You can set it to take out words like "and". Tagxedo also allows you to buy items with your cloud printed them.

1993 Commercial

We couldn't imagine these things would be available or easy when we saw these commercials; now these things are common and even behind. We are preparing our students to be successful and lead in positions and jobs that don't exist yet using technology that hasn't been considered. It's important for us to expose them to what is available now, explore with them, and allow them to learn, create, and flourish in a classroom that invites growth, risk taking, and problem solving. We do this by embracing what we know will engage them and teach them to be innovative thinkers and active learners.

Gooru

http://www.goorulearning.org/gooru/index.g#/home is a search engine for teachers. It quickly links you to all kinds of interactives, videos, etc. to use in your classroom. This is an easy way to get started integrating technology into your classroom. Go to the website and search "life cycle" for starters. Be sure to play with the interactives. Then search your content and see what you can find. Amazing resource.

WebQuests

If you are worried about HOW to integrate technology into your curriculum...the logistics of it...go here first. WebQuests.org is full of ideas and shared WebQuest lesson plans. The preparation is completed for you, and the students will take off with these inquiry based projects. This will help strengthen your comfort level with tech in the classroom. It shouldn't be separate or just for the teacher. The students should be utilizing it to LEARN!! Have fun exploring, and please post when you've tried something and share your experience. http://webquest.org/
